La ST was produced in a limited edition for racing by the 1970 at 1971. The reproduced one, nicknamed ST OR, belongs to the private collection of OriginalRace: is a 1970 and is fitted with a 2.4 engine with high guillotine mechanical injection.
The STs were available with engines of 2.0, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5 displacement, with a power output of 270 hp for the 2.5 (200 kW; 270 hp) at 8,000 rpm.
The initial weight is 960 kg (2,120 lbs). These cars have achieved numerous successes in both track and rally competitions, such as at the 6 Hours of Daytona, to the 12 Hours of Sebring, to the 1000 km of Nürburgring and the Targa Florio. In the 1970s, the FIA issued new rules that allowed the wheel arches to be widened by two inches more than standard to accommodate wider wheels. So it was decided to take advantage of the extra space by widening the ST's wheel arches to accommodate seven-inch front wheels and nine-inch rear wheels. At the time, there were no Fuchs wheels deeper than seven inches to put on the rear, which is why a combination Fuchs-anterior, Minilite-rear. Another interesting detail is the small light on the door, which was used to flash the car's race number at night. Weight reduction was even more radical thanks to the use of thinner gauge steel for the roof and floors. Heater ducts, sliding seat supports, glove box cover, ashtray, sun visors and rear torsion bar covers were eliminated. The cross bars connected the strut towers, while the soundproofing and underbody were omitted and minimal paint was applied. Plastic front and rear bumpers, a plastic front cover, light Plexiglas side and rear windows were included. Engine 2.5 litres - 270 HP, upgraded ventilated disc brakes, sports seats Recaro, higher capacity tank to hold more fuel. There was also a version with the 2.2 L flat 6. Porsche developed the S/T, of which 33 were built in the 1970 and in the 1971. However, we are not sure at 100% that this is true, as we have also found data suggesting that the production numbers were as follows: 6 units were built in 1969 with an engine with high throttle bodies, 15 cars were built in 1970 with a 2247 cc carburettor engine. Six cars were built in 1971 with a 2380 cc fuel-injected engine. A further 23 cars (3 factory and 20 customer) were built in 1972 .
