Lasciando da parte i modelli da rally, non esiste una Subaru più iconica della Impreza 22B STi. Questa versione fu costruita per celebrare il quarantesimo anniversario dalla casa delle Pleiadi nonché il terzo titolo costruttori consecutivo nel campionato mondiale rally.
L’interesse verso il modello è salito negli ultimi anni e la cifra richiesta per possederne una è aumentata a dismisura.
Al punto tale di raggiungere 325.000 Euro.
La 22B STi fu prodotta in soli 425 esemplari, di cui 400 destinati al mercato giapponese.
Tutte le 22B STi sono rifinite in Sonic Blue, colore che ben si sposa con i cerchioni dorati BBS by 17 pollici. La carrozzeria è molto simile a quella della controparte da rally: il cofano è in alluminio, i parafanghi sono stati allargati ed è presente un vistoso alettone posteriore regolabile.
La potenza viene fornita da un quattro cilindri turbo da 2,2 litri capable of delivering 280 CV e 268 Nm di coppia. Un cambio manuale a cinque marce trasmette la cavalleria su tutte e quattro le ruote.
