This product represents the three most iconic and representative air-cooled cars of the Stuttgart company, namely the 2.7 Carrera Rs , the 964 RS and the 993 RS.
2.7 Carrera RS. Considered by many to be the most important nine hundred and eleven in history, the Carrera RS 2.7 was the last version of the F seriesthe most powerful and the most sought-after by collectors. To emphasise the car's strong sporting identity, the Stuttgart-based company chose a name to recall the positive image achieved in racing that was used on other high-performance models: Carrera.
The origin of the term is due to the great success achieved in road racing Carrera Panamericana of 1954where three 550 Spyder equipped with the engine type 547 occupied the three steps of the category podium, as well as third place overall. The outsiders of the Carrera RS of 1973 are unique for that period. At the rear, the most distinctive element of the car stands out: the spoiler of the ducktail (or dovetail) located immediately below the engine ventilation grille.
However, this is not the only restyled element. Unlike the other nine hundred and eleven models, the rear wings are widened to accommodate the oversized wheels with 7 x 15 channel, while the front bumper has a specific profile designed to achieve an increase in downforce.
964 RS. In 1992, Porsche built a super-light, rear-wheel-drive-only version of the Carrera 964calling it Carrera RS. It was based on the nine hundred and eleven 'Carrera Cup' competition and was characterised by a revised version of the standard engine, internally called M64/03upgraded to 260 HP (194 kW). A lightweight flywheel coupled to the transmission G50/10 with shorter ratios, limited slip differential, asymmetrical torque distribution and steel synchroniser. The track-oriented suspension system with 40 mm ground clearance was complemented by stiffer springs, adjustable dampers and anti-roll bars, and the absence of power steering.
La Carrera RS is a lightened variant of the Carrera, the interior features recaro sports shell seats and very spartan door panels. The Carrera RS is equipped with a naturally aspirated engine with 3.8 litres which generates a maximum power of 300 HP achieved through the use of lighter forged pistons, twin oil coolers and enlarged intake valves. In addition, there are ventilated and drilled disc brakes from 322 mm with four-piston callipers shared with the 911 Turbo and the limited slip differential.
