REGULAR FIT

The entire bodywork, although of undoubted aesthetic impact, was created to meet the designers' requirements: to obtain a car with the best possible aerodynamic penetration coefficient. The visual impact, signed Flaminio Bertoniwas therefore only a consequence.

At the front, the DS of the first series have circular light clusters without fairings, which would only appear in the 1967with the arrival of the second series. More generally, the front end manages to be imposing and at the same time sleek, like that of the Ds of the 1969 represented on our products.
From the side, the line is very sleek, thanks to the not very high waistline, which leaves room for rather large glass surfaces, but also thanks to the half-width rear wheel arches, a styling feature already seen a few years earlier with the launch of the 2CV and that would also characterise many other cars of the House of the "Double Chevron. The tail was characterised by small circular headlights that were later replaced by rectangular ones during the restyling. Also at the rear, the direction indicators located above the rear pillars in the upper corner at the roof are very distinctive.

Internally, the styling leaves its mark, for example in the design of the steering wheel fitted with a single spoke. This particular configuration of the steering wheel stems from safety requirements because it reduces the risk of damage to the driver's ribcage in the event of a strong impact. The dashboard has adjustable lighting and includes a speedometer and odometer, but no rev counter. On the other hand, there are other instruments: the fuel level indicator, ammeter, headlight warning light, direction indicator light, low brake pressure and clock. È there is a knob for manual operation of the windscreen wipers in case of failure of the electrical device, and finally a chain, located on the clutch side, which allows the radiator to be covered by a curtain from the frost on winter days.
