La 993 Carrera RS is a lightweight variant of the 993 Carrera. It is equipped with a 3.8 litre aspirated which generates a maximum power of 300 HP obtained through the use of lightweight forged pistons, twin oil coolers, large intake valves, Varioram variable length intake manifold, Motronic engine management system e lightened rocker arms.

The manual gearbox G50 / 31 6-speed with short gearbox had modified ratios for the first three gears.

The exterior is easily distinguishable by a Carrera classic due to the large fixed rear wing, small front flaps and 18-inch aluminium wheels. The headlamp washers were eliminated for weight-saving reasons.

Inside, the rear seats were removed and special racing seats were installed along with spartan door panels. Soundproofing was reduced to a minimum. The suspension system used Bilstein shock absorbers and the height was reduced for better stability. Adjustable front and rear anti-roll bars and a reinforcement under the bonnet further increased handling. The final weight of the car amounted to 1,280 kg.

La Carrera RS was produced in the years 1995 e 1996. It was sold in Europe and many other countries around the world, but was never approved for export to the United States. The Carrera RS Clubsport (also known as RSR o RSCS in some countries) was a track-oriented iteration of the Carrera RS, with relatively limited road usability. The Clubsport was fitted with a welded roll cage. Some comfort features such as carpets, electric windows, air conditioning and radio have been removed. As for the exterior, it sports a larger rear wing and a deeper spoiler than the RS standard.

Production counts 1.014 cars of which 213 variants Clubsport.
